Abstract
يبحث المقال أثر الجفاف وندرة الماء في تراجع الحواضر الصحراوية الموريتانية، متخذا وادان نموذجا. وينطلق من الدور التاريخي لنقاط المياه والآبار في نشأة المراكز الحضرية وازدهار العمران والتجمعات البشرية، ثم يوضح كيف يؤدي نقص الماء إلى خراب العمارة وتراجع الاستقرار واختفاء بعض الحواضر. ويستعرض تطور المراكز الحضرية في المجال الموريتاني وصلتها بالتحولات الطبيعية والاجتماعية والاقتصادية والأمنية. ويركز على حالتي وادان ومحيطها لإبراز الكيفية التي أسهم بها الجفاف وندرة الموارد المائية في انكماش الإرث الحضري الصحراوي.
