Abstract
يدرس المقال المشكلات البيئية التي تواجه مدينة نواكشوط نتيجة النمو السكاني السريع والهجرة والتوسع العمراني منذ سبعينيات القرن العشرين، إلى جانب هشاشة موقعها الطبيعي. ويركز على مخاطر الفيضانات والغمر البحري في المناطق المنخفضة والقريبة من الساحل، وتجمع المياه الراكدة، وزحف الرمال من الشمال والشرق. ويبين أن الضغط الحضري والاقتصادي فاقم اختلالات البيئة المحلية ورفع مستوى تعرض العاصمة للمخاطر. ويؤكد المقال ضرورة فهم هذه التحديات ووضع معالجات تخطيطية وبيئية تحد من آثارها المستمرة (*).
